I get a 50.2 Megapixel camera – and fall in love with Photography again :)
Back in 2009 when I bought my Canon 5D m2 I said to my friend “That is the last camera I am ever buying, who needs more than 20megapixels for commercial photography work” and for the most part I was correct. Given that most images we produce these days are for web usage, even 20megapixels is crazy too much. Once reduced to web the details rendered by a higher resolution camera cannot be seen. Then over that last 10 years I started shooting alot of jewellery. Diamonds and gem stones shot at high magnification/marco look so much better than with a lower resolution camera. Recently we had a job shooting some jewellery and since my old Canon 5Dm2 is showing signs of age, and it was a big order of 500 pc I thought maybe time to invest in a new camera. I did some research and read alot about the Canon 5dr/s 50.2 megapixel camera. My fellow pro photographers on our FB forum recomended the Sony A7Riii but I hate sony cameras with their bs propriety software and other ‘sony centric’ hicups. So I then rented the Canon 5Dr from Canon CPS and after the first day shooting Focus stacked jewellery I was sold. THIS IS A FANTASTIC STILLS CAMERA.
And then something strange happened. Having been a professional photographer for the last 20 odd years, I have somewhat lost my ‘passion for photography’ and rarely if ever take my camera when not working. I used to love to grab the camera and go for a wonder around the city or country side, shooting just for the fun of shooting. So when I got the new camera it was strange that for the first time in a long time I found myself wondering around with the new camera shooting, shooting just for the love of shooting and to see what the camera can do. I love it and will give a more in depth review of its functions and features once i get to use it some more. So here are some of the first images I shot with it JUST FOR THE LOVE OF SHOOTING 🙂
